Angry fall away test

trying to do the fall away test on my 07 sb. i have the manual but i need some advice from those of you that have done this before. got the bike on the jack, made sure it is level with a level but i cant get the fork to stay straight so i can do the inspection. it constantly wants to fall to the left even with the bike perfectly level and no load on the forks. the balance point of the front tire is like 4 in to the right. im thinking thats not normal. also, how do you adjust the star nut? thanks in advance for the help.

Sounds like it's certainly too loose....I need to do this check too so I'll be monitoring this thread. Surely somebody will chime in with some help on this.

it is, but it calls for the wheel to be straight and then tap the fender to measure when it starts to fall away, you do it to both sides then measure the points, but if the wheel wont remain straight, how can you do it?

Harper, I don't have the manual in front of me but I believe it mentions something about removing the clutch cable. The cable may be pulling your bars to the left. I've been wondering about doing it too, a little confusing.

Remove your clutch cable, it is pretty stiff and tends to want to straighten out to a relaxed position. Check all the wiring from the frame to the triple clamps and make sure there free. Does the front end turn smoothly? Bearings good? How did you determine that the frame is level?

Umm, you said the thing is falling to the left. The clutch cable is attached to the left. Plenty of slack or not, take the clutch lever assembly off!
