Stock sized rear... got a killer deal on the wheels and those were the only sizes he had in chrome, everything else was billet and I HATE polishing aluminum.

Got the bike stripped down tonight... tank is off, bars are off, lights unhooked. Just need to figure out what size torx bit I need to loosen the triple tree clamps and then the old front end will be liberated!

ok, I will try to shoot some pictures along the way.

First off... what do I need to do to loosen the torx bolts that clamp the fork tubes into the triple trees? I have a hardened T-47 torx bit and it still wants to round the points off the bit before budging a single bolt. I tried heat from the micro torch, but maybe I need to break out the mapp gas?

Any other suggestions?

Another rider posted that he used a punch, placed in the center of the bolt head and delivered a quick rap with a hammer to break loose the loctite and stretch the threads a bit, was the trick.

I'm thinking probably was not a center punch, but a small drift punch.... I'll try to find that post....

Have you tried an impact driver?
You hit it with the hammer and it drives the bit in while making a snapping turn to loosen the bolt.

Haven't tried one yet because I didn't have one here. I'll see if I can borrow one and give that a shot. Other then that, the bike is stripped and ready for the fork swap.
