You can upgrade the fork internals and the rear shocks, both of which should help. Works Performance is another popular brand in addition to the ones mentioned above. I was planning to go with YSS shocks from forum member (sponsor?) Howard at Fast Harley til I found a deal I couldn't resist on some Ted Tine FXD-CR shocks. Very pleased with those so far. Some take-off FXDX shocks would be a really good choice since you're interested in lifting the bike. I didn't want mine higher, which is the only reason I didn't go for those.
Hmm - When i had mids i never scraped them - I scraped the screw on the bottom of the muffler. The mids would just fold up. Now that i have forwards I do the same thing, except the forwards fold up. If i wanted more cornering performance i would look at getting mufflers that are higher. I cant be the only one who has done this, but then again i did not learn to ride on a cruiser......
Taller shocks will help as will cranking up the preload on your stock ones if you haven't tried that yet.Bottom line though is the cornering clearance sucks on these bikes. You might want to consider getting a cheap cafe racer or sport bike if you like going around corners fast.It doesn't have to be anything expensive either a used ninja 250 will run away from a Harley on a curvy road.
Yep seems to be a common problem but so far as I know no recall for it.
Did my floor board last night looks pretty cool in the dark with all those sparks shooting off. Gotta be careful though don't want to start a forest fire.
First time I scrapped it kinda freaked me out. I was at Starved Rock in Illinois going through the park coming down a hill with a narrow road and pretty sharp turn and thought I would relive my earlier days (14 years ago I owned a ninja 600) so I went fairly quick and hit the right peg (forward controls) and my heel. I saw a suburban coming toward me but he slowed down and so I went a little wide on the turn. Back in the day my ninja had a center stand and I leaned so far the stand hit a sewer cap that was a little up and kicked up the rear wheel and rotated me a little. That wasn't cool either. So now I know that my dyna is not a lean machine and will be a bit more cautious on turns.
I have scraped both pegs and the rear mufflers. I'm looking at 2-1 exhaust, but would like one that sits higher in the back so as not to mess up the new pipes.
