I wear calf chaps and love them. They come up just above your knee so you don't worry about scratching the tank, also you have acess to your pockets. I think the address is www.calfchaps.com

Denim is much more abrasive than CLEAN leather, all the miles I've ridden I don't recall my legs riding against the tank. The right leg is huggin' the air cleaner and the left is out in the breeze doin' it's own thing on the left forward control.
