Default San Francisco

Well I just moved to San Francisco from North Carolina. I pulled my bob on a trailer 3300 miles to get here. Wow what a long trip. I stopped in the Grand canyon and got caught up in some snow the bike was totally covered in ice and snow! A couple of nights ago I took the bob out for a ride in downtown San Francisco. Oh man what a trip it was! Scary is an understatement! The hills here are crazy and the traffic is insane! Its legal to ride on the white traffic lines here and all the bikers do it and zig zag in and out of the cars. My heart was pounding the whole time. It will take some time for me to get used to the traffic and hills here. I must say the views here are awesome and I look forward to many trips along the coastal highway. I will post pics of the crazy hills and views soon.

Airborne, were you not in the 82nd in NC? What took you to SF? Either way, enjoy. Not sure what's better, Fayettenam or the Communist State of California!

Well when I got promoted to sergeant I got slected to become a recruiter for the next 3 years! [&:] There was no getting out of it either. The Army sent me to downtown San Francisco to recruit lol yeah ok. The liberal capitol of the US. We have war protestors infront of our station every other week. I sure do miss life as a paratrooper infantryman but hey life goes on. On the bright side the army doubled my pay and the riding here will be awesome.

Andrenaman,
Welcome to the Bay Area! I live on the east side. Yes, downtown SF is nuts man! I would be scared too! Besides cruising down the coast, I would also consider taking the Lake Tahoe / Reno ride. Street Vibrations is coming up fast in Reno in September. Look it up on the web, they actually close down part of Reno for all the bikes.

Sorry we lost ya to the left coast, but hopefully you will like it out there. I'm sure there is a lot of great roads to ride out there and probably a lot more biker gangs you can be a part of. I think I talked to you a few weeks ago about helmets and whatever, anyway I just picked up my novelty flat black German style at Steel Dreams in Fayettenam and then rode around the corner of I think Bragg Blvd to M&M's new store for some fake DOT stickers to put on the back of it. Enjoy California!

Welcome to SF!

The weather will change soon, and all will be good with the world.

There is so much riding to do here, you will love it.

The weekday cagers are used to bikes (motorized and human powered) so they give you some slack. Just watch out on the weekends, those guys don't pay attention at all.

Nice Bike Rhubarb! I would have gotten one of those, but I am not a very large person, so I had to settle for the Street Bob. BTW, good to see a fellow east bayer. I am next door in WC.

I hear ya! I was out in San Francisco last summer. Actually my brother and sister in law moved to Novato which is about 20 miles north of the golden gate. I rented a heritage softail for 3 days and rode all over the place. Bodega bay/coastline was a nice ride (Saw the house from Hitchcocks "The Birds" which was filmed there). The sheer cliffs and 30 foot waves was an eye opener! Up through sonoma and Napa valley to calastoga was beautiful. Stopped at all the famous vineyards (sterling, Copola estate etc) One day in the city with the bike was enough for me to make me dizzy, good thing China town was near by for some 'goo foo'. Best riding trip I've ever done hands down. Can't wait to 'visit' them again real soon.

You are a lucky man, if the cost of living were not 5 times where I live now, I'd consider it too!
