I've decided to install BCT baffles on my V&H Big Radius, so I call BCT and they recommend drilling a 1/4 inch hole about 6 to 8 inches from the rear of the pipe and placing the baffles further into the pipe for a deeper more throater sound than you would have using the hole already drilled out which is about 3 inches in. Does it really make that much of a difference? Has anyone installed the baffles in the same spot as the original ones and then moved them further into the pipe? BCT makes it sound like it would make a big difference.
Yes it will make a difference in performance, as it will give you more low end, that is if you are running straight pipes. The sound is very deep too, again if you are running straight pipes. You should call Jim Maybeck again, isn't that his name, as it is his product and he could elaborate on the nuances better than I.
I run em' with my Samson short slasher Big Guns II (straight pipes)
and they were killer....
Helped out the aformentioned in every way....
Just have to take the pipes off drill a hole in the back side of em' as instructed, and put in your BCT's with the allen head mushroom and the heat resistant pipe thread lock and you'll be all set. I think it would probably take you an hour and half, tha seems to be reasonable, depending on how long it takes you to take off and put on your pipes? No problems either, Jim is a great guy and is more than willing to help you with any issues that he can.
Hey Ben - how much difference in volume did the QQ's make with your Big Radius pipes. I just in stalled the BR and love the look but just a little loud for my tastes. Been reading through the posts but did not find anyone specifically with the BR that went to the QQ baffles.
Sounds like what your after. Gives the pipes a deeper, throatier sound! At lower rpm, around town style riding, they probably knock about 5db off. When you realy get on it, their not a lot quieter. They also eliminate most of the gurgling on decel. I think, if installed in the right location, they will add back pressure!
I dont think you'd be dissapointed!

Agreed. I have Hooker 2 1/2 Rebels and have them mounted about 6 inches up in the pipes. When you are not hard on the throttle they seem to quiet the note a bit but probably not much when you get a handful. I think the backpressure they do add helps my bike. My motor is set up to run strong on topo and it Feels better off the bottom and into the mid with these installed.
