I hope you recover quickly and enjoy the Street Vibrations while doing so. I learned many, MANY years ago not to ride past my comfort or skill level, whatever you want to call it. Yeah, like many of us I have the scars to show for it. I've been riding since 1960 (I'm 63) and had my "awakening" not too long after I started riding. As I got older I realized I didn't give a rodents rump about "keeping up with the Jones's". I'm one of those that enjoys the scenery, smells and stuff while I'm riding and I'm more than happy to pull over and let the type "A"s blast by me. Don't doubt your abilities. You realized what went wrong and you know what should keep it from happening again. Also, you've already made the first step by getting back on and continuing your trip. As for the second incident, you had no control over what happened. If you were in a car and witnessed the aftermath of an accident you wouldn't be second guessing your ability to drive a car, would you? You'll be fine, ghost. Don't let the anxiety take you down.
Riding in a Group can be enjoyable but not when someone tries to push things to the limits of ones ability ... Choosy who I ride with ... Is supposed to be enjoyed ... If not I can cut out real quick... Hope you heal fast and Ride Safe...
Hi Ghostd00d.
Glad you're ok and didn't wind up like the second accidnet. As it's been said in a previous note, things could be much worse.
I lived in Reno for about 30 years and I'm very familiar with highway 88. We moved to the flatlands of Ohio about 10 years ago, but I still miss the high mountain passes of the Sierras. That's awesome riding country. Thanks for the reminder about skill level.
Again, glad your safe.

Sorry to hear you went down Ghost
I've been riding for many years and still get out of my comfort zone from time to time and have to have a talk with myself. I've been spending some extra time with an older biker friend who's now over 70 and he talks to me all the time about getting older and how this affects our reaction time and depth perception among other things. We talk about this often to keep it fresh in our minds whats constantly changing in our riding.
He makes no excuses for riding in the back of the pack or going a little slower that others and has just as good a time as we do and most of all he's still doing and teaching by example. BTW he doesn't ride a bagger but and 03 springer ST with a sweet 95 screaming eagle with all of the good stuff. He can blast past most any of us at any time but doesn't, Well maybe once or twice but he has it totally under control.
heal quickly and keep riding!
Glad your ok and understand how easy it is to get caught up and let your head think I am holding folks up.... I always remind myself it is better to ride my ride, and be alive.
Pain fades, chick's dig scars, and glory is forever, I just want to be around to enjoy it.
Be safe..
man i tell my girl all the time... slow down we can always catch up... i ride FAST and HARD... but i also ride with sport bikes alot... so i constantly find myself slowing down to ride within the bikes limits and mine... with the big ol apes on there it is tuff to twist and turn... she has them on her bike as well and i find her trying to keep up with us alot... hell can not ride if your dead! slow it up... enjoy the ride... if you find that the person behind you is riding you hard try waving them on... if they are just being an ***... smash their face at the next light... alot of the sport bike kids try to pump on us every now and then (Pump = high gear high rpms and jumping the bike behind you by getting on the throttle real had then off it) I have had many a word with kids like that... exp when i am out riding with my girl... you dont mess with my safety let alone my ladies... i have no problem smacking the hell out of someone at a light.
*I am truely glad you are ok... be blessed man... i have been down 5 times... thank god every time i stand up after one... I am truely glad you where able to walk away... ooh ya, bike is heavy as hell when you have to pick it up is it not!?
