Ok here's the deal. I'm a soldier stationed in Iraq till end of November. I ordered a 09 FXDC which will be delivered in December. There are several things I want to do to this bike when I get home including changing the intake and exhaust, and of course forward controls. Now a little history on me I have about 5 years riding experience on sport bikes and ya just really dont ever move the controls on those. I was wondering if installing forward controls is something I can do myself and if anyone has any good websites so i can pre-order all the stuff I need to have it there at the house waiting for me when i get home. Has anyone one done this. I work on helicopter in the army so i'm pretty handy with tools. Thanks for any feed back guys. Also can anyone recomend a paint shop Im thinking a OU Sooners Paint scheme I'm a hure Sooners fan. Thanks yall.

Adding forward controls will be a snap for you! In fact, if you can work on helicopters, you can do everything you will want on a bike... so much easier! I bet you are excited about getting home!

+1
I would order a service manual and have it waiting as well.
AS far as sites if looking at Genuine Harley parts, I have good luck with chicago harley they give 20% off.
Try the mids first...coming from sport bikes, you might like them. They have many benifits if you aren't too tall for them. I hated mine riding two up though, and my pant legs would get caught on the mids. Changing your exhaust is easy as well.
I am 5'11" So I'm not too tall. I will be riding two up also.
You will love the forward controls. When I first got my Deuce with forward controls it felt odd for a day or two. After that I found it so much more comfortable and easy to use!!!
thanks for your service congrats on the new ride!...
