Default Enritchner Question

99 FXDX w/ factory carb. The Choke or Enritchner on my bike does not stay where it is positioned, when the bike is running the **** just goes right to the position you would use after it is warmed up! Checked the service manual for info but only got info on positioning it and for how long to keep it there. Looked on the bike and was unable to see any type of adjustment to ad friction to the cable to keep it where you position it. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks Guys!

I believe there is a nut behind the bracket its mounted to, and one on the front. If you tighten them up against each other I think it compresses a bushing? Anyway. My choke kept going right back in and that was my remedy.

Just some info. Mine moves in (toward lean) immediately after I let go of it. I need to crank the motor right away when cold, or it won't start. Having said that, the bike starts very reliably when cold. My enrichener does not return after starting to full lean. It must be pushed all the way in after warmup.

On the **** side of the bracket, there is a round "knurled" nut that goes flush to the bracket. If you pull the **** out, you can get to it a bit easier and tighten that round nut. You may need to put a pair of pliers on it, but be careful not to bugger it up.. You could also unscrew it to see what your dealing with.. Its just a friction nut..

The round plastic nut between the **** and the bracket is the adjustment, as HGM said. I would suggest not using pliers on it though, it's plastic.

You need to loosen the nut on the back side of the bracket then tighten the plastic **** on the front. The enrichener should move with light resistence. Then snug the rear nut. No need for any pliers on the plastic ****
