I have a 2003 Road King, Recently the choke loosened and fell below the mounting bracket. So I put it back in the bracket and snugged it up good with an 11/16 wrench. Now when the bike warms up it seems to have a much higher idle speed, Is there something I could have done wrong or something I should have done diffrent?
Don't over tighten the 11/16 nut cause she's made of plastic. Don't ask how I know.
Then there's another nut on the front that you adjust for the choke to stay out when
you pull on the choke handle. Also make sure that one is not too tight as well. It should
be just tight enough to hold the choke handle where you adjust it to. If all the above
fails, you're best to take it apart from the carb and put a bit of lube on the cable and
plunger. Good luck man.

Went and bought the service manual P/N 99483-03A. It says Caution Do not lubricate the cable or inside of conduit.
And my hex nut is metal
H-D CV carburetors have an have enrichener circuit.
Is this where I messed up:c
You're right RonJD. The nut is metal but the part itself is plastic. My bad. However,
I believe it's fine to lube inside the cable like any other cable on the bike. But just
a drop or two.

Yeah be careful with the lube because if you use too much it will vibrate back to the closed position in about 30 seconds when you ride. DOn't ask how I know this......
Do what you want but the plastic tensioner is there to provide grip through friction on the spring-ended cable so lubing it may cause it to slip (and you have to hold it out by hand). If it is idling high, the cable may not be adjusted properly or enrichener valve may not be seated correctly. Remove the cable from the mount and adjust the plastic nut out until the **** releases, then tension in increments until it holds again. Then re-mount the cable. If still idles high, try removing carb and cleaning the enrichener valve.
