Anyone have any trouble with the paint coming off of their frame. I have an '07 lowrider with 7500mi on it. Took it in to have a leak looked at and the technician found the paint coming off of the crossmembers below the engine. She sent pictures to HD. They said it's an environmental issue and not subject to the warranty. I thought the frames were powdercoated and this wasn't supposed to happen. Anyone else have this problem?
i have a problem with my front fork on my 5 months old fatbob,
and , they tell me that it is not on warranty...nothing is covered
with harleys....they cant even say why...real smart answer...
I used black touch up paint and clear coat on the frame near the neck of the bike worked great. No excuse for poor workmanship and then not to stand behind the product its totally lame. I hope they(MOCO) are watching this thread.

Another fat Bob owner on the board here had the same thing, dealer fixed it no cost...
ARRR,,,,Dont even get me started with the Harley Davidson warranty .
They should just call it First road you hit warranty is done ,
I could imagine why your paint should be pealing .
Normal wear and tear my a$$ .
If its still under warranty it should be fixed .....
I ,m going to stop now before I say something I might regret ..
My wife is lucky my frame is not peeling... I'd strip it down and have it powdercoated a different color to match a custom paint job that i'd have done just to match the frame!!!!
toecat2000 - A powder coated part that was properly prepared and the powder was cured properly will not chip, crack or peel. Powder coating is NOT indistructable, don't get me wrong. It can be gouged through to the metal that will start the corrosion process, and that will eventually lead to failure of the finish. However, when a properly powder coated part is gouged it leaves a smooth cut, kinda like cutting through a plastic milk jug. I won't offer any theories as to why yours failed since I haven't seen any pics, but it doesn't sound like "fair wear and tear" to me.

EXACTLY!!!! call corprate! Daily.... they shoudl cover it... your local dealer is an idiot! take what powder coater has told you here and call them again... tell them you consulted with a powdercoater and the reason it is doing this has nothing to do wiht enviromental factors... it is due to a crap job! if it is enviromental factors have them show you ANY bike in their shop that has it going on! the BE SURE YOUR LET THEM KNOW THAT YOU KNOW THEY ARE LIE'N TO YOU!
