Question Slip on mufflers

I just installed a set of Screamin Eagle slip ons on my 2007 FXDWG. Just want someone to confirm if I need to remap the efi or not. The mufflers are part #'s 80516-07 and 80517-07. They mounted fine and are marked for "FXD 1584" but I don't have any more info on them and these HD part numbers drive me nuts! Can anyone answer if I need additional work, or am I done? Please email to djohnson@coaxpa.com. Thanks. Dale

I don't believe so, only when you put a free flow air cleaner on.

Well buddy as long as you change either of your air cleaner or slip-on mufflers you do not need a re-map. If you decide to get an air cleaner kit to go with your slip-ons you will then def. need to tune the efi. I did both mods and added Xied's from nightrider (which richen your fuel mixture) And the bike was running fine , but I felt there was actually less low-end torque and def. did not feel any extra power just more sound .However today I removed the Xieds and got a stage 1 download from the dealer. She runs even better now low end torque is back stronger than ever and i love her!

How much is for the Stage 1 download? I am running SE slips II, XIED, K& N filter, runs good to me.

I was told that if you put slip-ons alone on you do not have to re-map. I was told by the khrome Werks folks who sold me some slip-ons for my Fat Bob. I put them on last night and took the bike out today. No problems. No popping or back-firing, just nice smooth delivery of power and sound. The stock mufflers sounded like someone was in the back shaking a bag of rocks on decel. Good luck.

They charged me 225$ plus i think a half hour labour and TACKS came to 282$. Thats here in canda, but I swear it runs better with download than Xieds which will now be on a shelf. They work fine for their pupose but I don't need them now. I'm going to try to find out, does anyone here know?,when coupled with the download- are they useless like **** on a bull,or will they still richen the already enriched A/F mix??

Here's an answer you probably never heard before -- it depends.

Did the download switch off the oxygen sensors? If yes, then your XIEDs don't have a purpose any more.

If the oxygen sensors are still operating, then your bike will go into closed loop operation when you're idling or riding with a steady throttle and then the XIEDs will still help out.

It seems like at least half the canned downloads disable the sensors. Almost all the custom ones do.
