Attention all 06 dyna owners......Is any body experiencing oil seapage between engine block and transmission??. My 06 FXD35 has less than 2500 miles and I am getting oil seapage on the top of the engine block were the transmission bolts to the block.
If any body is experiencing this please let me know and if you sought any resolution from the dealer as far as warranty is concerned.
My 03 FXD had the same thing - looked like oil seepage between trans and crankcase. According to HD there is no fluid in there to leak out and no gasket between the two surfaces. They explained that it could be some oil left over from machining the surfaces and it is nothing to worry about. I spray a little brake cleaner on mine and hit it with the wifes toothbrush every couple months and its fine. Never seen any actual oil there, just a small stain as if oil were seeping.
My FXDCI never had any oil weeping at all. Then they did the recall on the transmission. I got the bike back yesterday and after a ride today there was a small spot of oil on the pavement. Wierd becuase I wiped the bottom of the primary cover and went for another ride and after that there was nothing. I'm thinking it might be some leftover from the recall work and when it got hot enough it became viscous and made it's way to the lowest point & dropped off. I'll be keeping an eye on it though.
Get back to them about it though if it's continuous. You really shouldn't have any oil seepage on a new bike. A mate of mine had a brand new Kawasaki years ago that weeped oil from the engine. It went back to the bike shop 4 or 5 times before Kawasaki toook it back to their Aussie HQ for analysis. They came to the conclusion that the Block was porous and a cast from a bad batch. They gave him a new bike !
Fireball- I have an 05 FXDI and have the exact same thing. Mind you not a lot of oil, actually very liitle, just enough to mark the top of the area right along that line between the engine block and tranny block. If I wipe if off and clean it off real good after a while it re-appears. If you find anything out let me know. I probably will keep cleaning it off until I can get over to the dealer sometime (who knows when) to ask about it. I only have 2700 miles on the bike so far. I got it in Aug 05 (an 05 left over).
This exact thing happened to me. I had a spot under my bike after the recall. Wiped, and it hasn't leaked since. Weird!
