Dyna Heaven
20,486 miles on my 07 WG. I wouldn't call it old, but it does seem to keep fitting me better as I put on more miles. I wouldn't call it tired yet. Hope I hit 100,000 miles on this one. The best I've done is 82,000 on my old FXRS. That one was tired.

scotsport, pay no heed... folks are only reading your words, and not getting the intent of what you're saying. Hard to beat a faithful old dog... you trust him, he trusts you and together you're a team.
Nothing like putting back on the ride you made your own, just like those old jeans I grab when I go do some serious ridin'.

Taken on the chin gentlemen.
The XR1200 is a fine bike, but not really a sportsbike. I suspect we buy Harleys for a reason and wanting a sportsbike is not one of them.
I loved the short experience of riding one, but am so glad that I've scratched that itch.
My Dyna feels just right and I much preferred it after getting straight back onto it after handing the XR back. Very reassuring to know that my hard earned money was best spent.
For what it's worth, I don't think that you are missing anything in the US. While the XR is quick, I think that they have done the minumum to make it work in engineering terms - the rest is pure marketing - and cheesy at that. Fit and finish is poor. It feels 'lightweight' and there are lots of signs of fragility aready on this demo bike at least. An adreniline rush for sure if you hang in well past 5K, but not a patch I suspect on the 'real' sports bikes.
Sorry about the confusion chaps, I think I'll just shut up now and go and find my pipe and slippers.
