I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find the answer I need. Ok I have a 09 Super Glide Custom, when it came in there was a deep scratch on my handle bar. The dealer said no problem they would change them out. Anyway I like the bars on the Street Bob so I asked if they could change them to the street bob bars. The tech told me he would check and if every thing would work they would do it for me, no charge. So a couple of weeks ago he calls me and says it's all good and he ordered the bars. The bars came in friday and I'm to drop the bike off tuesday so they can change them out. But now I have been doing some searching and I have read you have to change the clutch and throddle cables and maybe the brake hose. I like the Street Bob bars better but I can't see paying for all new cables and such plus his labor to change them. So I need to know if this can be changed out with the cables and brake hose on my bike or not. Thanks for the help.

 

There are several guys on here who have done this and used all the Super Glide cables, lines, and hoses. They said it was a tight stretch and the steel in the brake line had to be bent. Some have also had to re-route the clutch cable.

My advice, for what little value its worth. You have a new bike. Get the correct cables and lines to do the bar change right or stay with the Super Glide bars. I just can't see letting a chicken **** on a new $15,000 motorcycle. If money is an issue, you can change the cables and lines yourself. Its not that hard to do and it will give you a chance to learn about your ride.

 

Thanks thats is what I needed to know. No I'll check to see if they were going to use the right cables. I'll do it myself if not. Rerouting would be ok but I want this to be done right.
