Just did mine today. I have been using syn since the 1000 mile change. I now have 16000 and no problems.

DO NOT CHANGE THE OIL! waste of money... over hte winter the temp changes will create moisture in your cases without riding, this will ruin your oil.. you change the oil FIRST thing next season but you should put it away wiht the dirty oil in it... this iwll not harm it... DO ot use fresh oil... just a waste of money

Put it away already? Usually I try and go as long as possible. The cold doesn't really bother me that much until the temps stay in the low 30's and or it snows. I keep mine in the house so moisture getting in the oil isn't a problem. Everyone has their own opinions on type of oil to use. But I stick with fossil since I prefer to change it more often than not.

Like the old oil left in suggestion by JRK5892.... I will be going into my first winter with the bike and will be storing it in a heated garage, put a trickle charger on it, and maybe some fuel stabilizer in tank. Any body have any more suggestions?
