Cool Forward Controls

Looking to switch from my mids to forwards. Even though i love my mids my buddy told me I look like Im taking a shat on the toilet. Can anybody give any positive feedback on any aftermarket brands or should i just stick with the new black harley forwards.

Stick with Harley forwards unless you are so tall that you need extended forwards.
Also, you may leave the mid pegs for a different riding position (if you ride very long distances).

There are better forward controls out there, but they can run $800 to $2,000. Many of them are billet with intricate designs and such, but the HD ones are good quality and will do everything you need them to.

Go HD. Once you get used to forwards (and it wont take long) you will NEVER go back to mid's. Trust me been there done that but did'nt get the t-shirt

What year is your ride? I think 06 and newer the directions say to pull the primary cover to install the new tranny lever and remove the old unused shift shaft. You don't have to do that, just disconnect the linkage and wedge the old shaft out of the way or cut it off. There are some post on how to cut the old shaft off. Just do a search for installing foward controls.

I wouldn't be so sure... Search every "forwards vs mids" thread and you will see that I always advocated forwards. I started getting tailbone pain on long rides (rides, not trips) so I put the mid pegs back on with the forward controls still installed. My plan was to reconvince myself that the mids did indeed suck and that the forwards weren't the cause of my discomfort. I instantly found that my bike handled better when I was on the mid pegs. More and more, I found myself prefering the mids and dreading having to eat my words here on the forum. So then the forwards came off, and I was cruising around and caught a glimps of my reflection with the mids on the side of a glass building... I didn't "look near as cool" with the mids.
I got over that though, and am quite happy with my mids again.

Michaelvs710,
I hope your buddy paid for your bike, dinner, and a movie if his opinion of how you look means so much. You say you love the mids, so why not blow the money on something else?

I have just the opposite problem I have the Mids, and I am getting really bad tailbone pain on short rides, I have the forwards in the garage, hoping to get them on this weekend.

Went with the Harley, black ordered on line to save a bit, but I also ordered the beauty cap and anti rattle clip from Kury, so that way I can go back to mids so I choose.

I think Les had posed the thread with the part numbers.

I tried to order the new 06 and up shift retainer but kury said I had to order the whole hardware pack... no thanks..

This is a heated topic, but I think what ever makes you more comfortable, is the best choice.. I can see both sides..
