I put 11 in. shocks on my bike a couple of years ago and didn't change the kickstand. On a cold morning had the choke on full and went back to close up the garage. Came back to find it in the trash cans. Lucky they were rubbermaid. Bike was fine, but the cans were flattend. Never told anyone cause I felt stupid.
I'm not sure if the wheel turned to the right had an effect or not. Allthough as it was falling the wheel was working its way around to the left as it was moving forward.
Parking the bike with the wheel turned to the right, pointing downhill and the engine running was pretty smart...I don't know anyone who does that or would even consider it.
Don't worry, I got you beat. I filled up with gas the other day, had about a million things on my mind (which is why I went for the ride) took off kinda fast and my pants started getting wet. I forgot to put the damn gas cap on. I let out a string of swear words that put a smudge on my record with the big man upstairs!!!
All I can say it this.....WELCOME TO THE CLUB!!! I have dropped, scratched, nicked, scraped, stripped and basically screwed enough motorcycle parts to almost build another bike. But all was done with the best of intentions except the time I stopped for gas after being at the local bar for several hours and shut my bike off and got off without putting down the jiffy.....
Once I was leaving the house, took my low rider down the sidewalk and was working it thru the small walk-in gate. Got the bars and back turns thru the gate ok, then started down thru the ditch. Done this a million times with no problems. Well this time I somehow stalled the bike. Front tire on one slope, rear tire on other slope, and my feet about 2 feet above the ground in the middle. Balanced pretty good for a second or two. Then, over we both went. Mirror, turn signals (that I was so careful with coming thru the gate), shift lever all had to be replaced. Not to mention there was probably 50 neighbors hiding in their houses and peeking out their windows at the idiot that just dumped his bike in the ditch.
