Hello all,
I am new to the forum, well i have read a lot but am posting for the first time.
I am looking at buying a 1999 Dyna Wife Glide. It is in good shape and I would be buying it from a local shop. My credit is lacking and this guy is working with me to get into it. I am just looking for some advice on if this is a good buy, it is 11K and has had a lot of work done to it, new pips, carb, front controls, jetted, new tires and a couple of other things i cannot recall right now. Also the shop owner is willing to work something out if i for some reason do not like the bike. Please give me yoru input, i think this is a good deal but like i said my credit is not all the great due to poor decisions in the past so i am looking for your input

A poor decision would be to finance an $11K bike in which is probably worth about $8K. The mods you outline are not very significant. The troubled economic times do not help.
I'm not sure what your credit has to do with whether or not you should buy the bike. You didn't say how many miles were on it or if there are any service records. You cannot recall a couple of the mods so they must be minor or they have no value to you. So, don't assign any value to anything you wouldn't have done yourself or at least wanted to do. Forward (front, as you put it) controls are standard on wide glides so they are not a mod. It's not a total apples to apples comparison but just keep in mind, you can get a brand new super glide with a 2 year warranty, 96 inch EFI motor, 6 spd tranny for around the same price range or a super glide custom with a lot of stock extras for a little over 13k. They don't make the WG anymore so there is nothing new to compare it to. It would have to be a like new WG with some desirable and valuable mods before I'd pay 11k for a 9 year old dyna especially if it has considerable miles on it.
I've got so-so credit. It's gotten better but still so-so. It's easier to get into a new bike than it is a used bike. If you have so-so credit, you may have a time of it getting the backing from a financial institution. I'm paying out the butt but HD did finance me. Don't ask me the interest rate. I kind of deserve the raping I'm getting. I made some very bad decisions growing up too. Gotta pay the piper somehow, I s'pose.
You are overpaying - I wouldn't pay more than 8K for that bike. Go pick up a Cycle Trader - it's a buyers market. Don't be blinded by pipes and aftermarket crap that you could take or leave.
11K sounds like an awful lot for a bike that old. I just bought my 07 street bob 6 months ago w/about a grand worth of aftermarket mods and only 2500 miles for 9500...also if credit is an issue check w/your own bank/credit unions to see if they can help w/the financing.
That's too much for that 1999 Wide Glide. You can get a brand new bike for about $12k. Plus, the market is flooded with 2007s and 2008s that people bought after seeing Biker Buildoff reruns, and put only a couple of thousand miles on them. These, comparatively speaking, can be had for a song.
