Default Saddle Bags

Does anyone make saddle bags for a 05 Dyna Super Glide that are NOT slanted and so small that they look out of place on the bike? Maybe it's just me, but they don't look right. I've seen Softails that have these full huge bags that look like they could hold anything and everything.

Softails don't have shocks exposed. If you get saddlebag brackets, you can out on whatever you want, but watch the rear turn signals.

I just recently added saddlebags to my 2005 Super Glide Custom. I wanted the largest possible bags for a reasonable price, which proved to be tough to do. I also added the HD turn signal relocation kit, which solves the turn signal problem. That's a must-do IMO. Then, I finally decided on Willie and Max saddlebags. They seem to be well made synthetic leather for a great price. Adding HD bags, or Leatherneck Jim or Boss bags (those were the other finalists) really sent the price through the roof. All those bags are real nice, and detachable, but that wasn't important to me. Saddlebag liners solves that problem.

I ended up ordering these:

and the Willie and Max universal hard-mount brackets. I really wasn't sure how it was all going to go together until it showed up. Total price was $211 shipped.

The brackets bolt into the holes that are left when you move the turn signals, and then you simply drill holes in the bags and bolt them to the brackets. You can throw away the removable yoke that comes with them, and I still haven't decided whether or not to cut off the zippered flaps that remain on the bags.

Overall, I'm happy with the outcome. The bags appear to be very weatherproof, and they have some plastic stiffeners inside to keep their shape. The downside is you kinda gotta play Tetris to get everything to fit since you can't really make the sides bend and flex while you stuff them full. They're not huge, but I think it'd be hard to get 'em much bigger than these and not look totally silly and/or interfere with your rear shocks.

They're great for the daily commute, but for a long trip I'm going to need sissy bar pack too.

Here are some pictures for ya:

Hope that helps. They really need to be slanted to miss the Dyna exposed shocks.

Boss Bags might be something to consider. They lock and they also lock to the bike. You can put them on your bike or take them off within seconds. My 1/2 helmet fits in one and leather jacket fits in the other with no problems. I really hated to spend the money on them, but I'm glad I did!
