I left a strip of tire outside my street is never let up on the new bike is can you say that I have removed bikes out of a sealed crate and set them into closed course racing like never registered the bike as a street bike but only time the engine received any break-in was practice and that was more or less a tick down some on the tire warming and body to bike warm up that blend us in for the day is yes, you will ear opinion after the other is ready?
Only 2 things will blow an engine is lean condition and no oil to engine parts is you hurt things is that is it. YOu beat it to death since day one is please do not tell me my engine is I start it up and no oil smoke. I look at the intake chamber and it is oil clean from the crankcase breather system being sorta closed loop like the gas tank vapor and that canister plumbing.
I've seen a literally unstable person buy a bike, then it comes back with the engine over heating is it was water cooled and it was whatever that person did to it, is yes, you can destroy an engine is give it to that toad is some amazing stuff you come up with and all that variable is if the clearance is within spec is take it to the salt flats.
In say 1000 miles and you tore it down. How close are the clearances if you can get 200,000 miles on a car engine is that had the same clearances when new is get a clue or say, think it out is you gonna look stupid with break-in/beat-in is it still runs is you will be dead before it dies is if you keep the oil changes up to snuff is I dump the oil and change filters a lot is it will last longer than you... In theory.
Jay Leno have a steam engine? There you go. Inventor is dead is not his invention. I love a good break-in thread is really send the tech home.
"The Book" (if you are referring to the owners manual) states that after 50 (yes 50) miles RPMs up to 5000 RPMs are permissible. That 45 MPH thing is rediculous. in 6th gear 2500 RPMs is 60MPH. Read your book and follow it. If it is the new 96ci, Harley has absolute confidence in that motor.
LOL...I don't bother using 6th gear untill 70mph. The motor on my ride likes to spin a little. It's much smoother at about 3K rpms(or more) than at 2500.
At 45mph, I'm still in third gear...at 50mph, I shift to 4th gear.
LMFAO!! It's a good thing I don't usually drink coffee in the morning because it would have been all over the monitor and keyboard! Thanks for the good laugh.

That was a good one... I had a rough time finishing the rest of the posts...
I followed the "book" on it. I figured that if I had any trouble, I didnt want them to use improper break in as an "OUT".
