Thumbs up New and a little confused

Finally, found the forum I should be on. I have an 08 Street Bob. I'm new to biking and everything related. I got the bike recently and have been pouring money into it hand over fist. Got V&H Shortshots, G.G. grips and footpegs, etc, etc. Last week I had the apes changed from 10 inch to 12 and a half. I don't get it! I expected them to be much higher. Anyone have opinions on this AND I was told to move the front signal lights down to the forks rather than leaving them on the bars b/c it would make the bike look cooler. Is this right??? I had a mural painted on the tank. You can see it on this link. http://www.airheadzcustom.com/various%20page.html

Any opinions would be great. Thanks to all.

Welcome. I think around here you will get the following response......"do whatever you think looks good on your bike, after all, it is your bike". I don't think there is any "conventional wisdom" as far as looks go. My .02

Some don't like the turn signals up on the handlebars and prefer them on the forks...I don't really care either way, and for me I've got other mods I'm focused on...it'll be a while before I think about moving mine. As far as looks, it's all about what you want. As far as the bars...are they comfortable? Apes are supposed to be comfy...if you don't like the look, and can go a bit higher without sacrificing comfort, do it.

The more you push your apes forward the higher they will feel. If they are pulled back slightly more than your stock bars were, they are not going to feel any taller.

As far as the turn signals i prefer them on the forks but thats just personal preference. It was one of the first things I did since it was cheap.

As said before in the thread before do what you feel, your bike is supposed to be an extension of you. We are here to provide opinions and opinions only.......so here's mine. You definitly need taller ape's,and and to relocate the turn signals.......good luck with the mods.

Thanks, Rockon. I did make the bars higher. Went up to 12 and a half from 10 and yes they are comfy, just that there doesn't seem to be much diff. I don't think you get a full 2 and a half higher. I expected higher, oh well more dough to HD.

Thanks FAQUA, I will relocate the lights for sure now. Just frustrated that the higher bars I just had put on wern't what I expected but as bberck suggested maybe they just need to be moved higher. KSJ

Yeah he's correct you can take a stock set and push-em forward and they'll feel like 19" bars....try that first before you **** your $$$$$ away
