Checked out the Kuryakyn Grantour bag. Looks like a great bag also. More of a vertical arrangement than the Biker's Friend bag. FYI - motorcycle-luggage.com seems to have the best price on it.
Hey thanks,.... I checked out that motorcycle-luggage.com site, and they definately have the best prices that I have seen. Yeah I believe that I am going with the Kurakyn Grantour bag since they are so much less expensive and I will then still have a backrest for my longer rides. It's kinda funny,.... When I told my dealer that I wanted to maintain the looks of the Superglide, but didnt want to add saddlebags and have to move my rear turn signals, but that I still wanted a way to be able to carry some stuff on my longer rides,... he pretty much said that I was gonna have to move the turn signals and to just get the HD removable saddlebags. All of that was gonna cost me a lil over $1,000.00 but thanks to some riders on this forum,... I saw a bike with a motherwell rack and then found the Kurakyn Grantour bag for a total of both $224.04.
i have the motherwell and Large Biker's Friend and it's a good look in my humble. The rack is strong enough despite the warning about it being rated for ten pounds. I think the XL would look out of place, may be that's me. When i was trying to decide about which way i would go, i went to Home Depot and bout a 4 foot length of 12 inch ( the L and XL are 13 inches i think?) cardboard tubing for forming concrete and cut it to lenth to see which i liked the look of. The L held enough stuff for Daytona and back over 5 days
I was looking at Motherwell's site again and noticed that they really jacked up the price in the last couple of days. It went from $67.10 on Monday when I ordered to $83.24 today. I'm glad I ordered mine when I did then.
You got me conserned, so I called to order,, and not only are the prices raised, but there out of stock also.. The sells lady said all of a sudden they have become very popular,, probably should have asked for a 'HDForums' discount,, their sudden populaity has to be somewhat contributed to us here at the forum.... At least I've got one coming..
Yeah Exactly,... I was gonna order one for a buddy and he's just pretty much outta luck. I bet hdforums did sell them quite a few,.....LOL At least I managed to get mine on the way before they found out they had a hot product.
Wow, I ordered my rack on Monday just in the nick of time! What's that saying about pricing being what the market will bear?
I haven't ordered the Biker's Friend bag yet, but I went on their site and they have a short form where you can put in your specs and they will make a recommendation as to what size you need. I mentioned that the luggage rack has a max load of 10 lb. This was their comment about that:
"The weight rating is not a load rating for the rack. It is a load rating for the weight and balance of the bike. Our bags go back there all the time. No problem."
sounds like an engineering answer written by an attorney, regardless i haved used and leaned on the Biker's Friend and Motherwell rack and they both held up fine.
