Default Breather Options

I'm dealing with a Forcewinder Air cleaner on my 08 street bob now and i broke off one of the breather bolts while tightening it into the engine head, i barely put any pressure on it and was quite suprised at how easy the metal just snapped. Does anyone know of any options at any hardware stores that would fit the threads and act as a breather bolt for my air cleaner? I spoke with ForceWinder about the matter and they wanted me to buy a whole new breather kit for over a hundred bucks!!

The bolts that go into the engine are typically hollow, to allow air / vapor / back into the filter element. Is the unit fitted to the bike? I don't know how it could've broken if it wasn't tight, ie bottomed out against the engine, in which case, the unit is installed?

yes its installed but on the bolt that broke off i was able to retreive the 1/4" of thread that was inside the engine head and to be honest just used the remaining 1/2" or so that was still attatched. i just dont have a warm and fuzzy about it like that you know. I can see on your pic you have the screamin eagle kit?? The forcewinders bracket leaves the breather tube and bolts exposed.

ahh, exposed, I see. hmmm, so all you need is the replacement fastener, and they won't sell it to you?

nope, beleive it or not i purchased this setup from J&P cycles, which has a reliable reputation right?? all they did was direct me to call Forcewinder direct to deal with it and when i did they offered to sell me the whole breather kit again. Which this breather bolt cant be more than 10 bucks and has to be at a hardware store somewhere, just didnt know if anyone has run into anything like this before.

Go to Lowe's Hardware. They have an excellent selection of bolts. Take the broken bolt with you to match up the threads. You shouldn't pay more than $1 or so.

I found this on ebay. I think it will work. Only 25$ buck. Better than 100$.
