Default I need some info

Hello all, newb here. I'm trying to surf the web and the forums as much as possible to gain some info on Dyna Lowriders. My buddies cousin has an 89 Lowrider with 26,000 miles but a supposed motor rebuild a few thousand miles ago. He'll take $5000 for it and in the pictures it's a decent looking bike with extras like polished mag wheels, pipes, apes, etc. I'm really thinking hard on buying this bike. My only dilemma is I've been wanting to build a chopper for some time now and was building one a few years back but financial reasons caused me to sell. Now I have no idea if everything (or most of everything) will swap over from a 1989 Dyna Lowrider to a 250-300 Soft Tail chopper frame. That's my ultimate goal is to have a chopper and I'm undecided on whether it be a 250 or a 300 rear tire. So if any of you were in my boat and could buy the bike for $5000 and ride it and then buy the chopper frame down the road and swap everything over, would you.

you can get soft tail style frames that fit dyna motors. and i have thought about doing that a few times with other dynas i have had but i love the fat bob to much to even think that way. good luck with the build when you do it!

Maybe I didn't explain it enough. If I were to buy the Dyna Lowrider, would I be able to buy a Soft Tail style 250 rear chopper rolling chassis and swap most of the Lowrider over to the roller. This is my plan if it will work. This way I can ride the Lowrider for a few months or so and when I've got enough cash for the roller then I can just piece together the new ride. Will it work like I'm hoping or is there a vast amount of differences between Dynas and Soft Tails?

Because I don't like the exposed rear shocks.

If you have fabrication knowledge, skill and tools you can do it. If you do not you are at the mercy of the roller frame manufacture. Contact some roller frame manufactures and ask them. And what is majority of low riders parts? Tins, front end, seat etc? Answer again deppends on frame and your fabrication ability.

I don't care about any tin from the Lowrider fitting on the soft tail roller. I just want to know if the big items like, motor, tranny, electronics, etc. will swap over. I just like the idea of being able to ride the Lowrider when I first buy it then if I'm able to get a roller of the chopper I really want and then when winter comes I can just swap some parts from the bike over onto the roller and voila, a completed chopper ready to rock done a little bit cheaper than piecing it together. I thought all Big V Twin motors were basically the same, I didn't know that they won't all interchange within the different frames.

I have seen frames offered that will accept a dyna motor.
They have a few differences.
The mounts are different between the dyna and softtail motors. the softails are hard mounted while the dynas are rubber mounted. The softail is internally balanced (96 - B Motor), Dynas are not (96 - A Motor).

The 96A has more power... Its possible as others have said, it depends on your skill & will...
