LOL She weighs al little more than 40. The specs for progressive recommend going with the HD shocks if more than 225lbs including the rider.

yeah those shocks are sweet looking like I said before... the works are a better shock for the money mechanically, however, they are not quite as stylish looking as the 430...I, of course like the black model. the good thing about the 430 is it has a threaded preload adjuster which is tool less. on this shock you can adjust your sag perfectly.(like the works)

do you ride mostly solo or 2up? I am your weight and as I said before the 11" HD shock could not be dialed in correctly for my weight. the preload needed to be set too firm to avoid bottoming out with them. setting the preload firm enough to avoid bottoming out all the time would cause the shock to bounce back soo fast that after a bump or dip the bike would shoot up and buck me off the seat.(did this 2up as well)
the regular shocks do not do that and I can set the preload just right to get a nice ride without bottoming out on anything but the worst of bumps(potholes). the shock will need to be set on the most firm setting when 2up but it still does not bottom out and actually gives a nice soft ride with the both of us on there. Also my wife is about 115 or a little less. our combined weight is about 300 lbs. Also I highly recommend not getting an 11" shock for long distance riding or a lot of 2up riding. the 11" shock only has a little more than an inch of rear wheel travel once seated(1.46" of wheel travel unloaded). the 11.5" gives you 1.96" and 12" shock is around 2.6". that extra travel can go a long way in comfort especially after a lot of miles on the road!

I've got the 430's on mine, and love them. Two seconds to adjust, no tools....look great too, plus they have them in all Chrome or Black. If you do go with an 11" shock, I suggest you lower the front end as well, or your center of gravity might feel off or the bike feel top heavy. Progressive makes a nice front fork lowering kit that's not that expensive. You will have to watch it when cornering......I've scraped my pegs a few times.

Just stating a correction. If you are getting bounced out of you seat after hitting a bump, you have too little rebound damping. Rebound damping is supposed to slow the speed of a compressed spring as it returns to it's resting state.

When I ride 2up I click them up 1 or 2 clicks depending on if we are taking full saddle bags.
If you will regularly ride 2up you should get HD's. By regularly I mean once or twice a week.
Good advice, don't forget that after a few thousand miles the springs will sag a bit.

Your right , thanks. too little damping that leads to too quick of a rebound.

by the way I found my sheet that had the price quotes for a couple of Works Performance shocks... the steel tracker was 439 dollars with the trim on top and bottom. the black tracker was 467 with trim on top and bottom. These shocks are ones custom built to your exact weight and riding style. several different options(they even have a billet series of streettracker) and your trim that you want on the shock will change the price a little (less or more depending).
