Did it two weeks ago. As long as bike is straight up no fluid comes out. As JRK noted in another post, use a center punch that fits in side the torx and whack each torx before you unscrew them. It loosens them up and keeps you from stripping them. The folks who sold me the cover sent the flat gasket you will need. Factory gasket is a rubber o-ring and fits inside the derby cover. The owners manual also has a torque sequence for the cover.
I have removed my derby several times, each oil change, and never replaced the gasket, no leaks so far.
As for whacking the Torx screws, those bolts should never be that tight. I replaced as many Torx as I could with SS Allen heads, so I have almost all bolts the same, makes maintenance much easier.
