Default Thunderheader

Is there anyone in this forum that might be able to clarify why a thunderheader for 99-05 dyna wouldn't fit my 07 dyna, other than o2 ports and that doesn't matter because I'm running pcIII with o2 eliminators.

At the price its being offered, I might just get it and if I can't make it work, I think I can get at least the cost of the pipe back. It's a black ceramic with 2 of the 3 heat shields included. I believe it does not include the collector heat shield.

different motor, different frame, aside from that, dont know why you couldnt make it work with a torch a grinder and a mig welder.

Ok... I did a little research at thunderheader.net.

p/n: 1026 fits 99-05 dyna heat shields (3) p/n 1126
p/n: 1031 fits 06-08 dyna heat shields (3) p/n 1126.

Do you see that I see. based on the heat shield p/n, they are the same which means the angle of the headers are the same. Only difference would be o2 sensors and maybe the mount bracket might be a touch different.

I was told that it wont clear the side of the transmision. 05 and down 5 speed. 06 and up 6 speed. The cover for the tranny sticks out farther.I was going to buy one too but that kept me from doing it. I hope ths makes sense and helps!

Hmm...well, I'm sure if I buy it, and it doesn't work, I can at least sell it and make my money back.

Is the pipe welded at the collector or can it be disassembled for installation?

Welded. You;ll need to change the angle of the bend to clear the transmision cover. I;m not sure if it's worth the headache. I thought about trying it, then decided to wait for one for an 06 and up. If you decide to try it I will be interestd in the results.

Well, I may just do it. I have some paypal cash from items I've sold and I could get the setup if I add just a tad to it so it won't cost me too much. Like i said, I think I'd be able to get my money back for it. It's worth a look-see. If it doesn't fit and requires too much alteration, I'll just sell it. No hair off my back. lol

SC, have you been watchin ebay for a used one for your year. Too much changed between them 2 years to know if other pipes work. I know my buddy tried a 05 pro-pipe on his 06 dyna and it hit the oil fill cap & obviously the mount didn't line up! Just a thought
