I installed 11.5 inch Progressive 440's on my FXDC. I measured at the edge of the rear fender lip below the tail light. These shocks dropped the bike at this point approx. 2 inches! Ride is good and no bottoming out problems 2 up as long as you dial about 3 turns of pre-load in. Hope this helps.

I lowered the rear 1" and installed Progressive standard length front springs. No problems. Rides, handles good.

I have been trying to find a shorter kickstand for late model Dyna's with no luck. Anyone know of a source?
Thanks,
Mike

I keep reading about going with shorter shocks to lower to rear, but wouldn't it be better to go with a lowering block instead of reducing the amount of travel in the shocks?

Just thinkin' out loud...

the link mud left is great... i heated mine and bent it out, but if you lower the bike you should really adjust the stand as well... did 1.5 in front and 2 in back on mine... still looked to lean enough but while it was idoling on the jiffy it would shake way to much... got the stand right and now it is solid as a rock!

Mud,
This is great! I will give this a try.

Joe,
Thanks for the follow up to Mud's "fix". If mine moves around to much at idle after grinding off a small portion of the stop, I will bend it a little as well.

Thanks guys!
Mike

That almost sounds like using the Pythagorean theorem. Can I get triple letter word score for remembering how to spell that?

One does not have to use the pythagorean theorem in this case, they can just take a measure directly. To be even more accurate one could measure 10" in the shock, see how this translates to the stick, and divide that by 10. I just don't get from the previous posts how -1" in the shock translates into -1.5" in height. Considering triangles it should be less than 1". The 1" in the shock is the hypotenuse.
