first off, i'm new to this forum, i recently bought my first harley after going from a CBR 600 and a then a Honda Shadow. i bought an 09 street bob, i absolutley love it, i have done a few mods, but i need some help deciding what pipes to put on, i just got a screaming eagle cone air system, and a lot of people tell me i need either the power comander, or fuel pak or something to tune everything together, having Hondas in the past i'm not familiar with this. what do you think? and what is your advise on choosing the right exhaust?
Far as tuning management goes, depends on what your future plans are? As far as pipe, kind of a touchy subject. What kind of sound are you after? Is performance a major factor in your decision? If it is consider a 2 into 1 pipe, then look at thunderheader, vance & hines pro pipe, bassani pro 2 into 1 & D&D fat cat. They all perform very well, other than that it's just personal prefference of sound and looks!
If you want looks, and loud pipes, have a look at the Vance & Hines straightshots slip ons. They look excellent on the staggered street bob exhaust, and being the same diameter as your header pipes, they look great on the bob. And they sound awesome. For some better performance, and to make the bike run a bit cooler, add a fuel pack to the bike. A fuel pack is merely a modern version of jetting a carbeurator. V&H makes an easy to use fuelpack for most exhausts. Even cheaper than paying the stealer do do a download on your ecm most of the time.
The Big Radius are also an excellent looking and sounding exhaust, just really expensive. The straightshots almost sound the same.
Have a look see around the dyna forums for the different exhausts, other then the stock mufflers on the 09's being different, I beieve the header pipes are the same as far as using older slip ons are concerned.
Welcome HuskerPower. If you change your a/c and exhaust, a fuel management system is recommended. I went with a Power Commander but there are many good systems out there including the HD Sert. Check around for awhile and listen to some different exhausts. There are many good ones out there.
Welcome, I recently picked up my Bob as well. I got some Vance&Hines staggered short shots from a seller on ebay and love them. Shop around there are good deals to be had out there, paid 270 for mine shipped. I put some Xieds on to get me by until I can afford some kind of fuel management system.
Yes, if you change the air cleaner allowing more air into the motor you should, def. add a power commander or fuel pack, or what ever blows your dress up, to keep the motor from running too lean.
I own an 09 fatbob running harley heavy breather, vance hines big radius and 13:8 xieds. This so far has been a great setup 1500miles and not looking back. Around 42 mpg i weigh 250 lbs 6'. This bike is strong!!!! Get the xieds
