Default SE Air cleaner...

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this...
I put a SE air cleaner with the stock cover on this last summer and put forwards on at the same time. Now when I ride, my right knee rests against the AC cover. It isn't a big deal, but when I use the rear brake, I have to twist my foot to the left to hit the pedal. Does the SE AC plate stick out farther or move it back on the bike a little? Or was it the forwards that cause this?
I'm thinking of switching to a heavy breather. That should get the AC out of the way, shouldn't it?

I had the same issue. The stage 1 moves the ac assembly outwards. I installed the heavy breather and now my leg doesn't touch the tube. Love the forward controls.

i have the se heavy breather and at 5'10" it seems to be right at my knee. i've never ridden the bike without this ac so i cannot say for certain, but i think the heavy breather sticks out further. but, it sure does look cool! to me that is worth the price of admission

That's kinda what I figured... I guess there will be a lightly used SE Air Cleaner in the classifieds sometime soon...

Watch ebay... I have seen a few "lightly used" ones on there.

before you take it off, first remove the stock ac cover, and try it, with the round element only(open)
the oval might be giving you problems?
if you still have problems you might measure the ac element, perhaps you could find a shorter one?

just a thought..

So would the round element from an older HD fit with my SE high flow intake? If so, that would be great... I want to do the "mudcut" on an AC cover. I just stumbled on that today.

was your se high flow, round?

I was thinking you put the stage1 on, like my sig pic.

if so you dont need the cover you can run it without, i know some elements are thicker, im just not sure which ones.

Just went out and looked. Mine has the oval element. Probably won't work, huh? I have a buddy that has a 99 Super Glide Sport. Knowing him, he probably has an extra air filter element that I could try, but my backing plate is oval too so I'm thinking I'm out of luck.
I wonder if an 07 intake plate will fit an 08 Fatbob...
