Wide Glide Springer Conversion Pics
I'm currently in the middle of building a custom rubbermount chopper based off of a 1997 FXDWG.
It hasn't been easy...that is for sure.
I had the frame stretched a raked to match a WCC CFL
4 up
2.5 out
38 degrees in the neck
Replaced the back-bone w/ a round tube over the square one.
6" over DNA Springer
Villian Tank
DNA Mammoth Spoke Rims
180 rear tire w/ chain conversion
Progressive 11" shocks on the rear
Here are a few pictures of my progress thus far.
I started with this.

Stripped the bike down..threw it on the jig.....

The Frame Specs match up to a WCC CFL Frame...

I sectioned out the stamped seat pan and welded in some new supports

Here is the current progress.
It's been going well so far...but has been one of the hardest that I have done.
Springers are adjusted via the rockers not the trees...
My rake and trail calculations are dead-on though...so I should be good.
I'll let you know after my first ride...(smile)
P.S. If your in Seattle..then I"m two hours north of you in Lynden, WA
I was referring to the original triple trees ... I realize the rake of the springer is not adjustable.
Nice job!
The Stock Harley triple trees are crap in my opinion....cast metal with a shiny chrome cover.
Durable as hell...but crap!
I build a lot of houses for the Navy in Oak Harbor.
If you ever get off the boat look me up....
I could use a hand putting this dang thing back-together...(laughing)

I tore the bike down since these pics...to work a bit more on the frame.
It's slowly going back together...
Just got the primary and the new shocks on today...

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
I've wondered how an "A" model engine would do sitting on solid motor mounts.
