Default Forward control???

What are the differences in forward controls for a softail and a dyna? I'm going to a swap meet this weekend in Nashville and am going to try to pick up a set and was wondering if I could "make" them work with a little modifying.

You should be able to make it fly. I am putting Softail floor boards on mine right now. The big difference is the mounting, it will be totally different. I did like a couple others before me and made brackets that bolt to the frame and then bolted the boards to those. The other issue will be the brake master cylinder. On the Softails it's mounted to the controls where the Dyna is back by the transmission.

That's the big issue. The rear brake master cylinder on softails has to be extended, on the dyna's you just need a longer linkage rod.

I don't know that much about the Softail forwards, but like the others have said, the master cylinder is located where the forward brake pedal assembly is, where as the Dynas are located towards the rear of the bike. To me, it seems like a lot of unnecessary work to have to go through to mount the Softail foewards when you could buy the ones made for a Dyna, which are designed to fit. Just my opinion!

Have you considered highway pegs instead? Cheaper, alot less work, and mid controls help you burn up the corners. You being a young guy and all, I would think that last point would be important to you.
