Default Mid Controls Vs. Fwd Controls

To those of you that have gone from mid controls to foward controls, how do you like the switch? What are the pluses and are there any downsides.

The only minus is the cost. Everything else is a plus. Went from forward (previous scoot) to mids (current scoot) and I am NOT liking it. Thought I would eventually warm up to them, but its been a month now and still annoys me. If you have the spare cash, go for it (I don't).

I HAD to change. Mid's were way to compacted for me. Got em off Ebay for less than $300. If you want I will try and find the info for ya. I like mine!

My FXD had the forward controls on it when I bought it second hand, but I reckon it would have been fairly uncomfortable for a tall bloke like me to ride with mid mounted pegs. Even with the forward controls I still feel a bit cramped.

It was pretty much a no brainer for me, but I'm 6'2". Plus I think the dyna looks cooler with forward controls. The only minus is the cost for parts and labor.

It all depends on your height. I'm only 5'5". I had forwards on my Sportster, but they are much closer in than on the bigger bikes. Even so, my legs would hurt after a long ride due to that little extra effort to hold my legs up and out in front of me. What I really needed were heel rests. But, now with mids, I don't have that problem. But my husband, at 6 ft tall, rode my Street Bob and he was cramped. He is used to his Wide Glide, which to me has forwards that seem a mile away.

For me there are no cons. I've been using the mid-controls for 1500miles and still can't get used to them. I will be very glad to see them go, on Monday.

I don't like the mid mounts, just too cramped for long rides, forward controls are just right for me and I'm only five nine.I did reinstall the the mid pegs just to have an alternate position for long rides when I get tired of being in the same position for a long time, just keep'em folded out of the way for around town.

Good Luck

Tom
