So I am getting everything together to do the WG front end on my 07 FXDC. I have the trees and have been polishing them up (used off fleabay), also picked up some chrome tapered spacers and looking for a good price on the axle. What is killing me right now is the wheel. I picked up a used 07 hub and was just going to lace up a Jireh rim to it, but the hub is in pretty bad shape with peeling chrome, and i don't really want to mess with trying to strip it and polish it so I was looking at 80 spoke complete wheel options. I am going the 3.25-3.5" wide route to run a 120 tire on it so used WG rims are out. I could spend around $325 for a decent DNA wheel ready to go, but that is more than I really want to spend right now. There are a ton of 3/4" axle FXST wheels out there that fit the bill and are much cheaper (150-200) can I just pull the 3/4" bearings and spacer and go to a 1" bearing and be good? I though I always heard the FXST wheels fit the WG, but is there something different about the earlier wheels that make this a no go for a newer 49mm front end? How about FL touring models too? Found some with the 1" bearings, but is the hub width close? Maybe just different spacers?

Did you just get the Wide Glide trees and are using your original 49mm fork tubes?
I got an older style FLST front end (41mm) so it was a no brainer to put on a Softail front wheel. The FL touring wheels are almost all (or all?) dual disc, so won't work.
I believe the spacing is a little different on the 49mm Wide Glide front ends ... but, that may have just been addressed by using different width spacers. Not sure.
I've put wide trees on my 07 streetbob,
for now i'm usings the bob wheel with spacers and rotor spacer. going to get the hub relaced to a 17" rim when I get round to it. also waiting for bearings for an 08 fatboy wheel.
