Default Would you do it?

So I've received an unsolicited opportunity to change to a touring bike. I love my Dyna, but I'm stuck mulling the options.

The backstory, my father stopped in at his local dealership over the weekend. While there a salesman caught him drooling over an '09 SE Ultra. With the economic conditions the dealership is having trouble moving bikes. This particular Ultra has been sitting on the floor for over a month, and the dealer seems willing to bend over backwards to move it out the door. Without even discussing trade in values, my father walked out of the store with numbers that have him seriously contemplating a move back up to an Ultra. Now is where my problem comes in. Given my fathers generous nature, he called me and asked if I was interested in moving to a larger bike platform. He offered to swap his 100th Anniversary Road King for my '06 FXDBI, letting me move up to a larger bike platform. The dyna would be traded in his deal for the Ultra.

I have to say that I love my bike. It still needs some work, but my focus has been on lining up mods not shopping for a new ride. That said, a 100th Anniversary Road King in gunmetal blue, with interior wiring, Kuryakyn Panacea LEDs, Mustang seat with pillion, rear rack, etc. It's a tempting offer.....

Tough call, Road kings are beautiful bikes, But is it the right bike for you? dose the type of ridding you do, fit with a road king? I love my bike as well, but it's just me riding it, so I don't need a road king yet. As hard as it would be to do, I would pass, nothing against a road king, but It would not work for me at this point, but it might years down the road. So you need to decide if the bike is right for you, It is hands down a better bike than yours, and mine, but that's not the point, you have to ask yourself, will you be happy with the road king? If yes, take the deal.

Yeah tough call, two totally different bikes. It all comes down to riding style and the look your going for. My next bike is going to be a Street glide but I'm going to keep my SB so I can have a bike for all occasitions.

Btw, where are you a firefighter?

I love my Dyna, and it is way better than my old ironhead. But the Anniversary Road King is a sweat looking bike. They aint as bulky as people think and I think they stop better. I rented one in FL. Took it from Ft. Lauderdale to Key West and back in one day. It was a blast. I had it wide open on the Tunpike at 2 in the morning.
I do like my dyna better in town. I guess I'd have to think real hard if it was me.

I would do it if the bike will provide you with the things you think you may be missing on the bob.For me being someone who considers 150 miles a long ride for a day, I would probably not be able to take advantage of the road king over the dyna. If I did more longer distance rides and felt the need for saddlebags and windshield, yup i would want a road king over the dyna.

I'd like to see a picture of the Road King, sounds like a great deal. I would do the trade and if you do not like the RK you can trade it in on a brand new dyna, I'm sure the RK is worth more than your current bike.

The road king could be easily stripped down. Throw on a solo seat for cruising around town! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Harle...Q5fmotorcycles
Here is one on ebay for a pic.

I have a 2000 superglide and a 2003 electric glide and feel I have the best of all the types of ridding we do. If your situtation would allow both bikes would be great, at least for a while then drop the least used.

I think I would have to take a 100 anniversary roadking for my lowrider. I'd pull off the Boss Bags, windshield, sissy bar & slip-on pipes and put them on eBay. If I could find a stock seat for cheap, I might even put my Sundowner up as well. I would then take all that paypal $$$ and start having fun making the roadking my own!
