Hi, I am seriously considering trading my low rider for a street glide. The biggest reason is I am looking for more storage and long distant confort for the woman and I. What are some pros and cons? Any input would be great. When spring gets here, I will test ride a street glide.
If you're looking for additional storage plus comfort for the woman, you might consider the EGlide Classic. Compared to the SG, much better seat, higher fairing, tour-pack.

It might have a better seat but IMO it has much less style. Eglide vs Street glide that is.
I'll tell you, the Street Glide is an awesome bike. I took an 09' for a test ride with the Mrs. when I was home on vacation and fell in love with it. What an awesome ride. My dilemma is that I want one bad, but I can't afford to buy one unless I get rid of my LR, but I love my bike and wouldn't get nearly what I would need to buy a Glide outright. I don't have a payment now and I don't want one.
I couldn't believe how much that faring cut the wind, as I had never ridden a bike with one before. I was amazed at how much noise it cut too. My wife and I could actually have a conversation and I liked the idea of having a stereo too.
They look bada$$, and look even better when modded. I thought that would be the one i'd get if i got a bagger. But after riding it, i could tell i would cramp up on it. You feel like you're sitting up on it and not in it, but it did glide nicely and the handling was really good. I was able to take slow tight corners with ease. Having the stereo was awesome. I would need to do something with those floorboards in order to ride it longer. Other than that, it's a great bike.
I was toying with getting a Street Glide before I bought my Deluxe. I had the same issue with wanting to be able to ride two up and some room for storage. The SG is an awesome bike and a great ride. It does have a very little shake in the lower RPM's but coming from a rubber mounted Sportster, that wasn't an issue to me. I test rode both an '09 and an '07 and they were both great rides. Overall, I was extremely impressed. So why didn't I buy the SG? One word...PRICE. I could not get what I thought was a good deal on one in this "buyers" market. No matter how hard I tried, I felt the discount wasn't enought and I didn't want to spend oodles of money, especially for a second bike. I was able to find a Softail Deluxe with very low mileage and a very good price ($2000 less than KBB trade-in) from a reputable dealer who had it on consignment. I couldnt find any deals close to this for the SG..granted the SG is the hottest selling Harley in the line up so I hear. However, I have not regretted my Deluxe purchase yet and the bike is perfectly comfortable for the day trips that I take with my wife.
I've got a set of Kuryakyn Gran throw-overs, a Tourmaster t-bag w/zip off roll bag, detachable backrest w/luggage rack and detachable windshield. I can tour anywhere and keep my Dyna.
But I know what you mean.... I do like the look and feel of the street glide.
The SG is a fine machine. It really cuts a nice hole in the air, but I think at high speeds, or high winds, it moves around a little with the fork mounted fairing. The RG doesn't seem to have this issue.
The SG is also a heavier machine than your dyna, in all aspects. Plus it's geared differently. I road a SG that had pipes, cams, tuner, yada yada. My piped and tuned LR would smoke it, hands down. Plus I just like the way the LR handles.
But, if I could have 2 HD's in the stable, the other would either be a RG or SG. Best of luck!
