I like it on the frame. Keep the front clean.

Problem was since the windshield was to tall I had it as low as it would go, now it would clear no problem.

If going to do it I would recommend hard mounting it. It keeps it very sturdy and in place and keeps it from rubbing on the bike.

I just bought a T-Brace and bent it 90 degrees. Cut a hole in the back of the bag and ran the long part through and used 2 bolts on the short part to secure it to the bag. Then cut a little length off and used to headlight bolt to mount it. Nice thing about the brace was you could bend it slightly if needed but was still strong enough to be secure.

Got the idea from Mascman but he used a hinge I think.

Brace I used

Be careful if you leave that bag up top .... it will pit the trees over time if it's touching them. And yes .... I know from experience!!

Good advice, I was curious about the long term effects. I may mount it low and see if I like it.

I had it on the downtubes but when I needed a tool it was a pain in the *** to get to, and that's why I moved it to where it is now...underneath the headlight.

That last post got my attention. I've moved it about 6 inches above the regulator. It looks like it'll clear the fender with fork movement. I'm gonna measure to be sure.

For practical purposes, I like it right under the light...very easy to get at.

I have a larger bag now, and it will mount on my risers...they are large Duece risers so I have a lot of room.

I did use a hinge, but welded it and then cut the large barrel part off. I used the light bolt and the one that holds the brake cable...figured it would keep it straight. The T-bracket is probably quicker and easier:

With a hard mounted bracket, you don't get marks on your trees or forks.

I like having a tool bag. I keep it down by the forward engine mount. I think it looks best there.
