I don't know about the roads where every body else rides... but every once-and-a-while I come accross a rode that for some reason-or-another has a very definate bump, every x number of feet. The result, at 65 mph, is a rythmic tourture of 'hurky jerky' as the grip on my throttle is 'pumped' up & down with every bump of the road.
Applying that little star throttle 'tensioing' screw thingy has allowed me to losen my grip and eliminate all the herky jerking and thus... has lengthened many many rides.

I changed mine out for a "Throttlelocker". Best mod I have done, cheap, easy to install and heaps easier to use than OEM one. Just a quick flick of the thumb and its on. Makes long trips easier on the wrist, and when the fingers go numb. I dont use it as a cruise control, just to give the right hand a rest on long straight roads.
Bump....... This is a fantastic mod, I haved used it heaps on long trips. I am not associated with the vendor, just wanted to reiterate at what a good mod it is.
For $9.95, can't beat the Throttle Rocker for ease of use and effectiveness at giving the hand a rest: http://www.throttlerocker.com/

Bit unsightly though, the Throttlelocker might be a bit more expensive but is a quality product and as easy to use and looks the goods. No offence Richard.

I agree with ackman & ggibson. On my 13-day roadtrip in september, I used it a lot on the long straights. Especially so for us single guys, it's nice to be able to give that right hand & grip a breather once in a while. ;>)
I know this is an old thread, but.... I have a 07 Dyna, and my throttle screw had wore a grove in my throttle handle. I took it apart, and the end of the screw is just a pointy thing. Is there supposed to be a 'shoe' on it that would rub against the throttle handle when tightning the screw?, instead of it digging into the handle.
Thanks

. Mine too. Suppose to be a semi circle shaped piece that rides on top of that pointy piece. Ronnies hd has online parts diagrams. It's cheep, dealer didn't have one so I grabbed one on eBay for $6. Here's what my eBay part looked like. I'd rather a solid one not sure if oem is solid. This one gives too much
upon further looking, I found 1/2 of my shoe laying in the part of the throttle control when it's supposed to be. I wonder where the other 1/2 is ???Anyways, I ordered another shoe for 10 bucks. Thanks for the response anyways
