Reason: spelling
I'd be tracing the circuit and looking for something with the starter button to coil. It seems that when you release the button you're cutting the electricity to the coil for some reason. Coil hooked up backwards maybe? Bad connection between the starter and coil somewhere? Do you have a scematic? Try new gas? Fuel filter plugged?
Hello mekanikmm
Saw your post I looked on my 1999 FXDX schematic and here is what I see as the path and sequience of operations!
1 ignition key allows 12v to the Bank Angle Sensor,& Engine Stop/Run switch.
2Engine Stop/Run allows 12v to the Start button and to the Ignition module.
3Pressing the Start button enables the start relay which engages the starter solinoid cranking the engine over.
When you let go of the starter button all that drops out is the starter, so I would look for loss of ignition from the module (are you loosing spark or is some other component fried)
Are you loosing power to the ignition module (white/blk wire, pin one on the black 12 pin connector)! Get a schematic so you can trouble shoot this there are not that many parts and you can trouble shoot the one at a time till you find the problem.
Russ
ps how did over charging the battery take out the Module & Coil
thanks for all the input. i had the plug wires switched the dynateck dyna
2000 ignition is single fire but both fire while cranking and go to single once
the bike starts. and if you use a battery charger on boost it ups the amps
enough to fry your module. trust me it was a $400.00 dollar mistake i made.
runs great again now i can swap the motor in my ultra glide and have both bikes again.
peace to you all
