It is an interface module, it is used to record and also to reprogram the ECM. You do need the program for a computer to use it correctly. Like was said here get a Screaming Eagle cat and get the rest of the setup if you already don't have it. You will only need it if you want to change anything.
Does it have a p/n on it some where? I'm wondering if that isn't the new SERT II programmer I heard about a month ago. With the performance items you are listing I would bet that it is a SERT II. From what I remember it retains the program that the ECM got when the ECM was reprogrammed. Best check with a dealer.
I have (I believe) a "speed tuner" thing that came with my bike. I bought my bike when it was 6 months old and the original owner had upgraded a few things and put on with rush pipes. I was told by the dealer to bring the unit with me when I go for tune ups. As you can tell I'm no motorcycle wrench ... I just ride em and that's the way i like it!
Hey, thanks for all the reasponses guys. Yes, I think I'll let the dealership worry about the red button. I got the bike with 3 miles on it and they did all the upgrades as part of the custom package.
Yes, it is a StreetBob. I'll see if I can get some better pics up later tonight.
I'm getting the following some time in the next week or two:
-RallyRunner seat
-Passenger foot brakets (black)
-Matching passenger pegs
-Sissy Bar and Pad
Need to get a windshield eventually as well. Plan on at least two long trips this summer.
