Thinking about a rebuilder
I am thinking about doing a rebuilder. I found this bike on Ebay and was wondering what everyone would think about it. I wanted to build it totally for a solo ride.
What do you think this bike is worth? Here is a link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

becareful on that one.it went end over end.both sides smacked the ground.so it looks like it flipped.frame might be bent to.if it was just one side that slide on ground then yes.but both sides means caution
What do you guys think about a flood bike like this one? http://www.salvagedirect.com/asp/vie...=603298&bhcp=1
if it was regular water it might be ok,but saltwater will eat allllll your seals, not just the engine seals, all your seals.you will have to completely take everything apart and mineral spirit clean everything.if not the salt will eat it from the inside out.but the best thing about it is,that it wasnt wrecked.so you only have to clean it with a fine tooth comb and replace all your seals and minor parts (recommend new wiring harness)and your on your way.this would be better then a wrecked one, never know what could twist on a wrecked one.and flooded looks better then wrecked on the salavage title,if you resell it when its done.so if you get a good deal on it and have some time.i would go for it.
here is a good salvage yard sites,my buddy rebuilds salvage bikes.bought a few from here kims motors
I agree with everyone else, that you will be buying more trouble than it is worth.

I'm on the east end of Wisconsin and I purchased a '98 FXDS from here=> Crashedtoys. They are in minnesota (lowercase because of the Vikings
) and from my experience I would say they are totaly trustworthy in their descriptions of the items they sell. They have bikes that appear to be unrestoreable and bikes like mine that are only layed down. If you're looking for a rebuildable I'd say go for it. But there are a few things you need to know. Let me know if you're still interested and I'll give you the details. Been there done that.
