Nice to know its pretty normal, even though I'll hear it now every time I get on it. I cut my ride short today because I thought something could be wrong. My other ones may have made it to, I just dont remember. My 80-80 wide glide clattered in the lifters but never gave me a problem.
The engine, transmission and primary have seperate oil reserves. The oval opening to the left of the clutch is your primary chain inspection cover/access. You can adjust the chain thru this hole. Suggestion, invest in a Hayden M6 tesioner. Personnally I think this is way better than the HD auto tensioner. Get with a dealer and obtain a service manual for your bike and then get intimate with it. Ther nothing like the satisfaction of doing yourself.

Agree completly... I built my Jeep and knowing it is "mine" is pretty cool. Which is why I've decided I'm going too learn to work on my own scooter. Getting an owners manual is exactly what I'm going to do.
Thanks to every one for your suggestions, it is very appreciated.
Did 185 miles yesterday (Tuesday) and actually managed to block it out and of course my WG performed awesomely, great ride.
Before we set out I went by the dealer service and had all my fluids changed. Well while I was there I just happened to park right next to an '06 WG and when he started his up it made exactly the same sound sitting there idling. I pointed it out to him and he said "its been like that from day one".
However, there was much less spinning sound after I tightened the Primary up.
