Default Lowering Blocks

I know that the lowering blocks are available in several different sizes 1" 1.5" and 1.75" but I'm wondering if the length is how far back the shock is moved or is it the amount the fender is lowered to the tire.

Well if you move the shock out more on one end, you increase it's angle therefore making it shorter. I can't answer your specific question. But think...if you have a stock 12" shock and swap it for an 11.5", that's a .5 difference. You will more than likely lower your back end close to an inch. It's all about geometry.

I know that its all about geometry but if I knew the actual distance that the shock is moved back I could do the math and find out how much each lowering block would lower the bike. So thats why I need to know what the number is refering to.

best to e-mail the manufacture and get the info from them. Or better yet, don't use blocks at all. My friends 03 Lowrider bent a shock bolt using those things. On the other hand, he bought the lowest blocks he could find.

I put the 1.75 blocks on my 08 fatbob, they moved the shocks back about an inch or so (not sure) Definatly lowers the seat height but now I have problem with fender hitting the upper belt guard, thats without a passenger. I wish I would have waited and got 11" progressives but for $80.00 it was much cheaper at the time.

go too low and you have too much travel from the stock shocks. You end up running into clearance issues. the lowering blocks are around 100. for around 200 you can be sporting some lowered progressive 412's. Also due to the angle change of the shock, smaller bumps become much more felt as the shock will not absorb them as easily as before.

The different sizes, 1" 1.5" and 1.75", are the amount the fender is lowered to the tire... not how far back the shock is moved.

The blocks do move the lower shock mount twords the rear of the bike. So... the more you drop the rear with blocks, the greater you increase the shock's travel angle.
