Curious about this actually...Is there anyway to mount softail floorboards on a dyna without having to weld anything additional on? Not a fabricator so any other ideas would help...thanks.
Back in 2000 I had a set of passenger floorboards on my dyna. This was in the days before HD came out with theirs. All the Stealerships were saying...couldn't be done...an independent shop ordered a pair from Custom Chrome catalog and installed them. But to answer your original question...yes front floor boards will work.
ko4QC I tried drilling the passenger floorboard I had but F'd it up. I put the floorboards on normally. They are tilted at an angle. It looks like it will factor my turning when cornering. Will it? Do they make floorboards that will fit without drillingor welding. Just bolt on?
Ive got original FXDP boards for sale in the classified ad's. Dyna Defender Police bikes came with these and I have a set if interested. Comes with all shifting and brake linkage stuff too. PM me if interested.
Yes, yes, yes. You can also use or not use syn oil, name the bike after your mother, put a Honda motor on your Harley frame.... In short you can install damn near anything you are willing to put the resourcefulness/elbow grease into.
PS If you search this forums plenty of threads about this issue. Sorry I am such a butt today.
There was another thread that listed a company the has the Dyna defender boards available with mods already done to fit the 06 and later bikes.
As far as Softail boards, you do not neccesarily need to do any welding. I made adapter plates that used the existing bolt holes in the frame and boards. Another thing to consider with the Softail boards is the master cylinder. You have to run the one that fits the boards and fab a brake line.
