there is a set locally that looks exactly like the set on my WG for dirt cheap...same year, same tank badge and tribal paint but it's listed as a softail.
Carb??? My 05' WG is EFI. I do have an extra tank (efi) and rear fender that I was going to have painted, but got a new set instead. You interested in them? I don't have the front fender because I was going to use something different, but they are all over the place on e-bay.
If you look at the tanks from the side view, I don't think they are 'bolt on' compatible.
The mounting tabs on the front of FXD series tanks is slightly above the center mass of the tank; whereas, the mounting tabs on the ST are on the bottom front. Also, the ST tanks don't have side tabs on the rear of the tank.
If you have equipment to weld, I think the mounting tabs could be cut off and welded into the proper position, but then you'd have to solve the problem of all the tank internals (for EFI) and console/dash mounting. (If you have cutting and welding equipment, makes the problem much easier to solve.) Then the issue is cleaning it up and painting where the 'work' was done.
Probably do-able if the desire is great enough, but the issue is why would you when a FXD tank will work much better.
I periodically mull it over for purposes of adapting either a larger capacity tank (6-gal touring tank) or for the cool looks of a stretched tank (which you can find fairly plentifully for ST models). But, so far have been dissuaded due to the hassles involved ....
