When I first put my windshield on I hated it. Quick detatch from HD. Forced myself to use it on long rides. The buffeting was driving me crazy. I moved it up, then down. Nothing seemed to make a difference. I put in a tank lift an didn't notice any real difference. Took the short visor off my helmet and detected a small amount of relief. Finally pushed my glasses on as tight as they would go and again noticed some relief. After all those attempts at making things better I took it off and went for about a 300 mile ride and wished I had put it on the whole time. You get used to it.

Several people have modified and installed a shield that is made for the road glide. Mounts under the lower triple tree.... I'll try to find the thread.... or the link.

Well anyway, look for "Chrome front fork air baffle", under the road glides on the Harley website. A few guys here have modified it to work on the Dyna, and claim pretty good results as far as buffeting goes.

Default Thanks guys!!

Looks like this IS a fairly common complaint. Pretty sure this is an over the top buffett as opposed to an under and around but I could be wrong. Gonna try to adjust up/down but I really think more rake is the answer. Might try to mod the bracket to allow for this. I'll let you know.

When I first got my lowrider, I rode for a while with no shield 70-75 mph on the freeway all day. When I bought a shield I could not stand it! Messed around with the height and the angle trying to fix my "buffeting". Finally gave in rode with the shield for a few months on the freeway. One day when the weather starting getting nice again I took it off and hit the freeway got the first exit came home and put the sheild back on. Windshields arent for everyone and they require some getting use to. .02 cents

You might be surprised.... this apparently took care of a lot of what people complained about... helmet and glasses shaking and stuff....

This piece plus a tank lift might take care of it for you.... and fairly cheaply.

Most of the buffeting I experience comes from around my knee area, up in to my head. I found this out by putting my arm horizontal across my chest and noticed it got calm all of the sudden.

The buffeting I experience doesn't bother me in the least due to a combination of getting used to it, and from what I can tell, it's no where near as bad as some describe theirs to be. It really only irritates me if/when I wear a helmet.

As someone mentioned above, there was a good thread on using a Wind Deflector for touring models, and chopping it up a little bit to fit the Dyna lower tree. I searched for a minute but couldn't find it. I'll post back if I can find it.

I (reluctantly) put a HD QD low profile windshield on my SB for windy days and longer highway riding...I have the same issues with buffeting. I've played with adjusting it low to high, and for me, it seems to have less buffeting the higher I adjust it. Mines about 3/4" from the top of the tripple tree and I'll probably move it another 1/2" higher.

I hate the looks of the windshield on my ride, but it does make a big improvement in overall comfort for longer highway rides.

[QUOTE=FATBOB67;4426376]I have a HD detachable windshield on my Fat Bob and love it. Would not ride on the highway with out it. Is the windshield slid all the way up on the forks or is it low on the forks. Mine is about 3/4" to 1" from the highest it can go. Works great.

Same here. I have the QD Low Profile on mine and it's great out on the road.

From the Memphis Shades website. Good luck!

How To Buy A Windshield That Fits

Most riders like to be able to see over their windshields. But in order to do this and still get ample protection, the windshield must reach up between the tip and the bridge of a riders nose. If it doesn't, a rider will experience mild to severe buffeting.

Many riders like looking through their windshields, but what they often fail to account for is rain. When it rains everyone has to look over the top of the windshield in order to see clearly. When choosing a windshield it's vital a rider chooses one that isn't so high that he or she can't comfortably extend themselves to see up over the top of the windshield.
