Sammi, The preload settings range from 1 to 5. 1 being the softest setting and 5 being the stiffest setting. I weigh 210 pounds and usualy have it set to position 3. It's just a personal preference, I jack it up to 4 when I carry my wife...
I'd like to tag onto Sammi's post. I weigh 175 lbs and my shocks are set on 3. This seams a little stiff to me. Was wondering what settings are your shocks at verses weight of the rider?
Howdy, I ride mine set at 2 or 3 depending on wht route I am taking. When riding 2 up I am set at 4 or 5... I weigh aboout 230 and with the wife on board the toal wieght is approx. 350 so a higher setting is more comfortable. Once we load up with Saddlebags and a T-bag we will probably upgrade our shocks to some new progressive shocks....
Have a good one... and keep it verticalllllllllllll......
