Default Seat Grab strap issue

I just got a new H-D Reach seat for my 07 DB. When I installed the grab strap, it does not fit flush across the seat like the one on the Sundowner I replaced it with.

I followed the instructions, replacing the strap using the existing hardware etc. I even tried it a second time at the smallest "hole", it is still too loose (by loose, I mean you can easily slip your arm under it).

Am I missing something?

If you need the strap, trying punching new holes in the strap to make it smaller.

The easiest way to get it to lie flush is to throw in a larged base trash can.

+1 or if you can't stand to throw it away, toss it in the bottom of the box the seat came in. That's where I keep all of mine. They are not worth the effort when it comes time to swap out seats.

Good points. I was going to skip it but I felt guilty somehow. I guess I'll just stash it. If I even plan to do much 2-up riding I will get a sissy bar of some sort anyhow, can't see anyone using the strap.

I tossed mine as soon as I got the bike home. I can't see anyone using it anyways. Much cleaner look IMO.

When you do get a passenger, just have her hold on to you!

I put my strap in a box with my stock mufflers. Didn't care for them on my bikes in the 70's and don't like them any better now. They get all stretched out over time.
