Hey guys,
I'm gonna take off the rear reflectors on my bike using a heat gun. what should i use to remove the gunk? just rubbing worked on the front but I'm worried about scratching the paint on the rear fender.
Also, i bought a small fork bag/tool bag. do you think it would look best on the forks or the chin of the frame?
I didn't even use heat but if it's really cold, I'm sure it will help. Mine took more rubbing than goo-gone but goo-gone helps. Where the stuff is really thick, goo-gone doesn't seem to do much. It works better for removing the residue left behind when most of the adhesive is gone. Just don't scrape it with ANYTHING, and rubbing shouldn't hurt your paint.

I used fishing line, and goo be gone. I didn't use a heat gun.
I used a blow dryer and a calling card. I heated up the residual and rubbed it off with my thumb (kind of rolled it into a ball and pulled it off). Then did the small bit that was left over with wax. No scratches and looks 10 times better without reflectors.
Look for "3M Adhesive & Wax Remover". I'm not sure if I bought it at an auto parts store or Home Depot, but it works great. Just spray on and wipe off. The goo just turns to liquid. I've used it a dozen times on various things since I bought it.
I put a strip of electical tape on my lower trees and mounted my fork bag under the light. I like it a lot and it won't scratch the headlight like some who have it mounted above the light. It will scratch the trees if you don't cover them with something. I have a few rub marks from before I added the electrical tape for padding.
Looks like you have denim paint, I wouldn't want to use any chemicals or waxes on it...post the question to other denim owners on how to get the residual stuff off.
heat gun will generate too much heat, you will have a mess to clean up off the paint after the badge is gone... i would not use a heat gun! trust me on that one, i learned the hard way... follow what is stated above and it will work... on the reflectors i just wiggled it back and forth and then it just popped off! no mess no fuss! i rock my fork bag above myheadlight, but then again mine has a stereo in it.
I have denim paint on mine. I used a hair dryer as it does not get as hot as heat gun. I used the fishing line and hair dryer to remove the reflectors. Then using the blow dryer I heated the left over foam and just rolled it into a ball with my thumb. It came off well. I did this with the tank emblem as well. No scratches and I did not use any chemicals.
